The Pegasus Academy of Performing Arts was formed in 2008 to provide a Bristol youth organisation offering young people of all ages the opportunity to take part in many activities including “Colourguard”. This is a dance based activity using flags and other equipment, to perform a routine to music in Basketball Arena’s.
Our aim is to allow our young people an opportunity to engage in a great activity which can lead to being part of a successful team and to compete in Open, Junior and Cadets classes at Regional, National and International competitions from January until April called “Winterguard”. Pegasus has formed a unique partnership with Filton College, Bristol where they have started a Colourguard class as part of a BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre. Whilst this is common place in the USA, it is thought that this is the first time this has happened in a UK college. This provides Pegasus the opportunity to use the excellent facilities at Filton College’s WISE Campus. The highlight of our season was when Pegasus held a Winterguard competition in the newly refurbished top class 1,000 seat WISE Arena venue on 16 January 2011.
